What “paid on the 1st” looks like in your business

Not features. The actual change in how your week works.

1

No more ‘hey, did you get my invoice?’ texts on the 12th

Card on file gets charged automatically on the day you set. Customers know. You know. The money shows up. Sunday-night invoicing sessions become Sunday-night actual rest.

2

Weather-cancelled visits don’t become billing arguments

When rain pushes a route, Mowledger logs the cancellation and the make-up visit. Invoices reflect what actually got serviced — no ‘you billed me for a visit you skipped’ calls.

3

Multi-property customers stop being a headache

One customer with three lawns? Each property tracks its own visits, square footage, gate codes, dog warnings. Bill them on one invoice with line items per property. Their bookkeeper loves you.

How it works

Three steps. About 5 minutes per customer. Auto-charge from there forever.

Step 01

Add the customer + property

Name, address, phone, the lawn area, gate code, any pet warnings. 90 seconds.

Step 02

Set the recurring schedule

Weekly mow at $55, fertilization rounds at $65 each, fall cleanup at $325. Whatever cadence your service runs.

Step 03

Customer enters card. Done.

Your customer adds a card on file via a Stripe link you email them. Charges fire on schedule. Money lands in your bank in 2 days.

Why this exists

I’m Jonathan, a working carpenter in Hillsdale, Michigan. I trialed Jobber and bounced — $169/mo for the tier that did what I needed felt like buying a Cadillac for a job site. Joist was cheaper but missing cost and time tracking, which is the math that tells you whether a job actually made money.

I built Mowledger after realizing recurring service operators get burned the worst by current options. Every other lawn SaaS is either built for $1M+ landscape companies (Aspire, BOSS LM) or designed by ex-tech people who learned the trade by interviewing it. So I made the tool a working operator would actually use — and made it free up to 50 customers because the first year of a lawn business shouldn’t require $200/mo of software.

Founder pricing is locked for life when you upgrade. The first 200 paying customers get $25/$49/$89 forever — even when they grow into bigger plans.

Common questions

What if my customer doesn't want to enter a card?

Send them a regular invoice instead — Mowledger generates a branded PDF invoice plus an online-pay link. Customers can pay by card, ACH, or by check. Card-on-file is optional, not required. Most customers DO enter a card once they realize they don't have to remember to pay you each month.

What does this cost when I outgrow free?

$25/mo Solo (1 user, unlimited customers), $49/mo Team (5 seats), $89/mo Business (15 seats). Founder pricing — locked for life when you upgrade. Standard rates after the founder cap fills are $49 / $99 / $179.

How is this different from Yardbook (free) or Jobber ($169/mo)?

Yardbook is free but the UI is stuck in 2012, mobile experience is rough, card-on-file billing requires clunky add-ons. Jobber's free tier doesn't exist (14-day trial only) and the tier with online payments is $169/mo. Mowledger is modern UI, real card-on-file billing built in, and free up to 50 customers — sized for solo and small-crew operators specifically. See the full comparison: landscaping CRM software guide.

Can I import my existing customer list?

Yes — CSV import wizard with column mapping. Most operators import from a spreadsheet or from their previous software's export in 10-15 minutes for a typical 30-50 customer list.

What about the platform fee on Stripe payments?

1% on the free plan, 0.5% on paid plans. That's on top of standard Stripe processing (2.9% + $0.30). Optional one-click pass-through to the customer if you want to net the full invoice. Money lands in YOUR bank account directly via Stripe Connect — we never touch the funds.

Can I run this on my phone in the field?

Yes. Mowledger is a progressive web app — install to your home screen on iPhone or Android, works offline for the most-used screens, syncs when you're back on data. Don't need a separate native app to download.

What happens if Mowledger shuts down?

Fair question for any new SaaS. All your data exports to CSV anytime — customers, invoices, projects, payments. Your Stripe relationship is your own (Stripe Connect Direct Charges, not a Mowledger merchant account). If we shut down, you take everything and move it to whatever's next. No lock-in.
